Trim around the person in Photoshop and count the pixels in the picture.
Or you can estimate using graph paper. Print the photos on graph paper and count the squares.
And if you want to get more accurate, take pictures from several small angles to the left and right of head on and plot area against angle. Fit a curve and use the minimum value.
