Thanks for your post. 46cm is the narrowest I can be comfortable (almost) on.

I understand that narrower is better than lower for aerodynamics (although the wider bars let me go lower than I could with narrow bars). But I was really uncomfortable with the narrow bars......I have broad shoulders (even 46cm seems too narrow).

Although the wideness may slow me down a little....It makes spinning out of the saddle waaaaaay easier because the wide bars let me control the lateral movemnt of the frame when I am pedaling hard and/or fast.

Most of the time I am an out-of the saddle climber....I just can't stand going slow up hills (agonizing).
