If Shimano's ultimate goal is to get rid of front shifting, why the Hell did they spend so much time and money on Di2? A single ring up front and 14-cogs in the rear sounds like the kind of thing you could do pretty easily today. Especially if you were willing to accept a wider rear hub. If Campy can do 11 speeds with a "standard" freehub, it would seem to me that you could widen the rear hub to 145 or 150mm and easily fit 14 speeds...
