I bought a '04 Sirrus Pro from rbcycles here in sunny so fla. Got a real good deal. Your Comp has a carbon fiber fork while my '04 Pro has an aluminum fork - seems that they couldn't figure out in '04 how to match up the carbon fiber fork with the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. I have a carbon fiber handle bar to sort of make up for it along with an Ultegra rear derailler. I bought the bike since I wanted a more upright position and I thought the disc brakes looked cool. They do look cool but better yet they are by far the best bicycle brakes I have ever encountered. I have to remember riding my other bikes that they do not stop the same.
I like my Sirrus alot. Today I rode my old 10 speed - that's in total gears not just the rear cluster - Atala road bike with old Campy gear instead since we had about a 25 mph headwind going over to Key Biscayne. I took a pretty good beating and missed the 30 tooth third front gear going over the bridge when I ran out of steam. While the Atala is ultimately faster while you are in the drops the Sirrus is so much more comfortable. You feel that you can ride all day. Pedestrians say hello - roadies mostly ignore you except for the occasional "cool bike" comment but that's pretty par for the course.
The more I ride it the more I really like the Sirrus. I'm still immature enough that I don't like getting passed but I'm also immature enough to really enjoy passing someone on a roadie bike on my flat handlebarred Sirrus. FYI - if you get a stem mount for your cyclocomputer you can get a pretty good grip on the close ends of the bar. While its not really comparable to being on drops it helps some. The reall advantage to the Sirrus is that I ride more since I enjoy it more and I'm getting stronger.
What kind of riding do you do? What kind of other bikes do you/have you had? Have you modified or thought about modifying the bike?
Happy New Year
