My Cateye computer doesn't fit 31.8

Bought a new Cannondale R1000z this weekend. I found a steal on a Cateye Enduro 2 computer (not the new Enduro 8) at the REI Scratch and Dent sale ($8). It doesn't look like the computer had been used before and it looks like it works fine. When I tried to install it, I found that the handelbar bracket doesn't fit my 31.8 handlebars.

Here's what I see for my options:

1) Bike Nashbar has a mounting kit that says it works for this computer and will fit 31.8 handlebars. It's probably another $16 investment (plus a little wait to get the hardware). Total investment under this option is around $24.

2) I can get a Sigma Sport 1200 computer that mounts with rubber bands and will fit a 31.8 handlebar. This will cost around $22. If I do this, I'll need to try to sell the Enduro computer to recoup my investment (or maybe mount it on my old bike, since I can't seem to find the computer that goes on that bike).

Is there any reason why I should go through the extra effort to keep the Cateye?
