I'm thinking about getting something bombproof now that will last me for years, and then when I have the money get a nice racing wheelset (there were some DV46T Reynolds with tires and 10 speed D/A cassette on Craigslist here for $600... I thought about it, but I'd still need training wheels). So I want something bombproof that will last me lots of miles and not cost too much.

I'm considering Aksium, Open Pro laced to Ultegra/105, or something similar.

I've had two responses from teammates: one has some Shimano WH-540 with 4000 miles on them he'll sell me for $100. I can't find much info on these, but I gather they aren't what I want.

The other guy has a new set of Aksiums for $200.

It looks like I can get Open Pro/Ultegra for $320, or Open Pro/105 for $245.

What's my best bet? I basically want the best training wheel for the money. I'll be racing on it too for at least part of a season, so I'd like it to not weigh 2500 grams or something ridiculous like that.
