I think I may have a couple spare too. I think a race mechanic would have removed them anyway (if they could be bothered) so I don't their absense would make a bike any less correct unless you were trying to restore a bike to original spec rolled off the showroom floor. Personally, I go for the "this is what a pro racer's bike might have looked like in 19xx".
