Right, I'd say hydraulic brakes require more maint. Seems that I have to bleed mine everytime I get new pads (3 months). I've seriously thought about going back to mechanicals. I wore a friction hole in my rear brake line earlier this year while hauling @$$ DH. It was scary to say the least. Luckily there was a creek nearby to wash all the brake fluid off me & my bike's frame.... (Hayes uses DOT fluid which will eat off the paint in a hurry)
