Eh, do you plan on getting hit with a canon ball? Of course I jest, but I think a helmet + some kind of protective eye wear (ski goggles during the winter, maybe plain old safety glasses other times) would cover you pretty well, save for maybe getting a welt on your cheek. But to each their own.
