I have had some time on a touring bike. I had a 58cm 1983 Specialized Expedition. It was a jewel of a bike and loved it until about 70 miles in and I would feel like I could not get comfortable and then lose feeling in hand and sometimes all the way through my arms. I had it advised to me that I was to scrunched up and needed to be extended a little more. I then wiped away a couple of tears and craiglisted it and it was gone with in 2 hours.
I don't know what the top tube length on the '83 58cm Expedition is, but I'm pretty confident it's not nearly 59cm like the 58cm LHT is. In fact, I'd guess the Expedition is quite a bit shorter. I'm just guessing, though.
But the LHT's are definitely sized with long top tubes, unusually so. Just keep that in mind.
