The fact that titanium is a rather difficult metal to work with as far as it goes with welds and what not makes me wary of buying a generic frame; sure, it's titanium, but how well put together is what concerns me. It is a rather strong material in itself but if there's crappy weld quality it doesn't matter how strong titanium is. I thought the motobecanes were too good to be true, and it turns out they are, in my opinion.

Anyways, I've decided on a Cannondale CAAD9-5 instead. American hand built. Makes me feel a little safer.

Edit: I also was under the impression that the carbon frames were significantly weaker, but that's not really the case...they're rather strong.
From what I've gathered(on this forum as well as others), I think that Mike has a solid case for his frames. They're built in Taiwan and not China, the same factory as other brand names, complaints are few if any..etc.
I don't care for a Brand Name, I just want an awesome bike for a good value.
Why is it too good to be true?
I figured that you don't get the least support from BD via email or phone, that being the compromise between purchasing from an LBS or BD.

How do you prove the weld quality bad?
Or rather, how do you compare them to a name brand like litespeed?
