Don't buy a cross bike just because they're out of Ti road bikes. Get the bike you want. Also consider steel if you want durability.
That was my immediate reason, but when I think about it, riding on rough terrain is almost a certainty. As I've mentioned earlier, I plan on taking it on a mountain trail near where I live.
