i like and hate them.
they're functional, but i feel like an idiot in them when i'm not on my bike. kinda like walking around with my work bag when i'm on, say, an amtrak or airplane.
granted, a lot of the handmade, non-branded ones are perfectly attractive.
they're pretty crucial for under-the-helmet wear (if that's your thing), especially in the winter.
