alright this thing isn't gonna fly, unless I can pry open the stem a full 1/8 of an inch. I measured the curve of the drop against the width and dia of the clamp and it's gonna have to be in that ballpark for me to get it past the drop.

can you deform the aluminum a full 1/8" and expect it to still perform structurally? will I actually crack the stem?

Anyone have any cautionary tales or advice about weather to scrap the bars or risk damaging the stem?
