Bikes: Kona Jake (2006)

Happy O-Day.

I live in Arlington, VA and ride West each morning, away from DC, so today’s commute was interesting. Anticipating the worst this morning, but I have never seen the roads as quiet as they are right now. Schools are closed, so I am guessing that most people who aren’t going to the Mall/parade are staying home. The bike path was busy however, with walkers and bikers- in my 11 mile ride West, I passed probably 4-5 groups of 3-8 bikers heading in to DC. It’s in the 20s here and I saw a ton of people without hats or gloves, etc.- gonna be a long day for them.

The Metros are jammed- I saw one train packed to the gills with people, windows completely fogged up. Sardines- steaming.

Bummed to be missing the inauguration but I am not much of a crowd person. Curious to see what it’s like going home. I am guessing once I get closer to my house, the bike paths outbound will be mobbed.
