I'm a big football/baseball/track and field fan, I've always enjoyed sports. I'm biased because I'm into cycling, but for me, (and this is my opinion, nobody has to agree with it) nothing I can think of can really top the Armstrong 7 straight TdF's in a row accomplishment in sports history. That's just amazing. But that doesn't mean Lance can't be an asshat, or that he doesn't put his pants on one leg at a time. Whatever.
This is all hot stove league talk, because it's winter, we all should be riding more, and we're all going crazy. And it's utterly subjective. There's no yardstick that can tell you who wins the 'greatest athlete ever' contest. For me, that's Lance. For me. But I don't worship the guy. He's a talented pro athlete, he has an uplifting story to tell, and that's the end of it. I just really find the depth of what seems to be anger and disdain for the guy impossible to relate to.
