I have an old trek 400 road bike that i've riddin the hell out of..eight RAGBRAI's..and multiple long rides, however this is a bike with a double chainring and a seven speed freewheel..i'd really like to put a triple chainring on her and possibly go nine speed (friction is not a problem). It currently has shimano DT shifters and i'm fine with that as well.

Here's the deal, I already have a shimano XT long cage RD, and a sugino triple chainring as well as the proper BB, i'll be takin' this to a LBS, not sure of what FD i'll need or if this is worth the cost, but I gotta say this bike fits to a tee and i've riddin it thousands of miles. Problem is i'm not gittin' any younger and could really use the gears, so far i've managed the hills but they ain't gittin' any easier!
