I just do it automatically as I slow down; it's like second nature. Maybe you got out of the habit by riding the IGH? (Not knocking an IGH, just saying.)
you are right!! (I am carried away by the luxury of forgetting to downshift before stopping/slowing down)
but also: this dahon vitesse has a single chainring. downshifting means
going up the sprockets.
meanwhile, when I ride my hybrid occasionally, I have the option to downshift by
going down the triple chainring. this is easier.....
