The Ritchey adjustable won't come loose on rough ground. If you examined one, you'd see for yourself why. They have many full-length vanes of metal-to-metal and the bolt torques down very firmly indeed. So tight is this beast that even when not tightened up, you may well have a tough go trying to take it apart to change the adjustment. This also makes it nearly infinitely adjustable.

I thought the same as you when I first bought one. I thought I'd be selling it after I used it as a band-aid while checking angles on a build I was doing. But after I (with difficulty) disassembled it and then rode with it, my plans to resell it went out the window. It's a definite keeper. It currently graces my vintage Puch Reynolds 531. And it looks great, too.

(I do NOT own stock in Ritchey.
