I have to admit that in all my years of cycling, I have never...ever...run into anyone who had the desire to keep their bike tires "shiny". The only thing I ever used on tires, other than just soap and water while doing regular cleaning is vinegar. It removes the build up of oils on the rubber surface from riding on the road and helps to improve traction. It is only in recent years that any of my tires even lasted long enough to worry about how shiny they were.
