I only ride on Hyde Park Ave occasionally. I grew up in Hyde Park, and my parents still live there, so I'll sometimes take Hyde Park Ave from Forest Hills to a little before Cleary Square. I feel like Hyde Park Ave is wide enough for two lanes of traffic, but not much more. If there's parked cars on the right, I get nervous about car tearing down the road at 40 mph. There's not a whole lot of bike traffic there (I don't think) so the motorists are not used to dealing with cyclists. It's a little better if the road is congested because I can keep up with traffic somewhat.
