I stopped going to one shop because they always recommended just one brand to me, whether it was for a stem, handlebars, wheels, anything, they always pushed one particular brand on me and even as a n00b I know that this brand is not superior to all others in all areas. Even worse, when I told them I was interested in another brand they just started to ignore me even though they could order that brand for me! I believe that particular shop had a relationship with that particular brand and maybe their employees only made commission when they sold that brand or something, I dunno, but that kind of relationship is not a good look.
