I do a variety of exercise with a Swiss Ball, Bosu Ball, and free weights that stretch and strengthen. Here is my favorite, see if you can do it. I do pushups holding a Bosu Ball (round side down) with my feet on a large Swiss Ball. To do this, you need to stay balanced on both balls and it works your micro muscles as well as your core. I generally do 5 sets of twenty.
Yes, you're right, sorry - it's more accurate to say that static stretching is the problem. Active stretching is fine.
And dysFTP, you are forgetting that pro athletes are almost as vulnerable to bad habits as are amateurs.
