You've got two or three different colors going on there, so forget about making it pretty. Just get that bare metal covered to prevent corrosion. Either get some Testor's paint (the kind for model kits) at a craft/hobby store, or -- seriously -- get some fingernail polish in the right color, which I guess would be white. Works like a charm and includes a tiny brush.
