It is not fast but neither am I. Maintenance is easy and I do most it myself. Just upgraded the tires with a smoother tread and they work great. I could use a bigger frame but it's fine for the riding I do.
You sound to me like a good person to ask. What's the attraction?
With modern indexing derailleur systems all it takes is a push of a lever and it shifts. I don't get what it's doing for you.
