One day in particular I maxed out @ 32.7, 33.4, 33.7, 34.6, and 32.1 mph. Now at age 56, if I ever am in contention in a race at the end, I'll go for a win. Probably not gonna happen now that I've upped to Cat 4 so I can get my *** handed to me in Masters races.
Yeah there is a guy (Hammer with a capital H) in our group who last year rode for the first time in 55+ @Cat3 figuring he would be able to start winning. (the Hammer's racing knowledge and tactics are sound) Found out that it just draws more competitive physically gifted 55+ riders from a larger geographical area.
Personally I enjoy the group rides and look forward to our Tortoise and Hare rides come Spring.
