My last real MTB riding was done back before there were purpose built mountain bikes back in the 1970's.
My primary bike back then was a 3 speed with 26" wheels on a cantilevered frame, with banana seat and rams horn bars that took me over more rocky terrain than I have ridden on in the 30 years since my parents sent it to the dump when I was in boot camp.
