If Shimano is selling lots of electronic groups, you can bet that Campy's comes out in a year or two. If all the Campy users are rushing to 11 speeds you can bet that an 11 speed Shimano group will be out the next year.

We all should be happy. This is the first significant split between the two companies' offerings in over a decade, since Shimano came out with STI. Throw in SRAM as the third choice and amateur roadie consumers have never had it so good.
Maybe you missed Campy's introduction of 10 speed in 2000 - fours years before Shimano?

When I can get a Record group for $1400, I wouldn't think of anything eletronic unless it was comparably priced option.
