Thanks
Great show EDR. I knew Copperas was a stray data point. Sucks about the lap card though, but I was lucky to find it in my race too
P123... short story: 75th place, off the back of the main field.
Long story:
Well, a 1m effort over 700W always messes up the rest of my ride. I knew I'd be in trouble. I rolled back to the car and drank some Powerade, and shot a Gu (had one before the Cat 3 race too). I got out the phone to tell my wife I won, and nearly puked on it.
Locked up the car, and rolled up to the back of the staging area. Met some teammates (new team for me). Got the plan, and told them I needed to find a rhythm before I was going to be of use.
The race starts, and I'm thinking, "Ok, this blows." My legs hurt. The first lap was pretty tough. I just sat at the back and drank some more Powerade and stretched. As the laps wore on, I felt better and better. Mid-race (60' crit), I started moving up a bit. Now I felt pretty good, but I knew I didn't have much peak in me.
So, I went to the top 5 on the last lap and just waited for someone to attack. When they did, I just hauled everyone up to it nice and smooth. I kept it nice and smooth, hoping our sprinters were in good position. The big pack made it difficult for me to find the sprinters, so I figured I'd just smooth things out.
Then I was pretty much blown, pulled way off, and let everyone by. I rolled in on my own just spinning.
I guess I was happy to get my nose in the wind in the last lap of a p123 crit. I certainly think I can be a factor at that level, so that's good to know...
It didn't work out for our guys, but we had fun. RX did a nice couple of long charges off the front solo.
