RV Rant

Thanks for that rant which like all other generalizations fueled by emotion does not totally ring true. I can envision combining RV travel with bicycles, nature, campfires, and many other healthy activities appropriate to kids, grandkids, and yes middle-aged and old folks. Oh, do I need to say, I have an RV that is not 40' long (actually its 24'). Should I mention I don't tow a car but instead carry two bikes inside the RV that are used for local travel, and daily rides, plus some tours. Should I also point out that as a person who backpacked for 40+ years, I might enjoy a more comfortable bed now in my autumn years. I also carry my pack and tent in that RV and they do get used frequently. Often its two people sleeping in the RV and the others sleeping in the tent alongside or further away. Should I also mention that RVs often camp at state parks and in national forests where you need not be on a concrete pad with a freeway 50 yards away. I suggest you foam about a looser stereotype and think about ways to combine interests rather than tearing at one to benefit the other. Not everyone needs an RV, but everyone needs some excuse to get out in nature and away from our increasingly artificial world. RVs can be a part of that solution if used appropriately. Nuff rant from this end. tom
