Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Everyone, thanks for the advice. Here's my starting point with my mechanic:
  • Install noodles to rout the cables out of the way
  • Install wider handlebars
  • Raise the bars a bit, making certain that the angle is correct. (Raising them will change that a bit)
  • New bar tape. Ask them to leave about half an inch of additional bare bar near the stem, to have space to mount the handlebar bag and my GPS. (They currently won't both fit.)

rhm, thanks for the offer. If this doesn't work out, I may be taking you up on that loaner bar.
