The route used to go down Grand in downtown Carlsbad but the store owners complained about losing business so they changed the route to do a U-turn at the lagoon crossing.
Better now than waiting for the train, which I had to do the first time I ran it. Only my second marathon, it was the difference between under 4 hours and 4:01 something.
