on a more positive note, i have to help out a local bike shop by getting a threaded fork installed...
I have a 1" threaded fork i need installed on my fuji track..its an 2007, last year of the threaded fork models.

i guess now im wondering where I could get this done, how much it would cost and how long it will take

the details are:

Fork needs to be rethreaded about 5cm, and then cut down to match the headset..
crown race needs to be installed
possibly a new headset, something of the cheaperish tange levin variety..
