This was supposedly the last year for the Carlsbad Marathon. Next year they are partnering with Encinitas and Solana Beach and the route will go through all three cities along 101. The proposed name for the new race is "Beach Cities Marathon".
They are still in the planning stages to see if the new course will work. I hope so, it would be cool to have the whole thing along the ocean instead of doing the inland detour along Palomar Airport Road.
I hadn't heard that. That would be a nice course. The inland part was always such a boring part of the race. I doubt it will lure me into another marathon though. 35 or so is enough for these knees
