I am so used to riding in toe clips, I just can't ride platform pedals. I have tried pedalling these with regular shoes. The surface feels flat all right- no poking into the shoes in any way. But if my feet are not retained, the upward curve sends my foot off the pedal. Also, I prefer a high cadence, which I can not manage without foot retention.
I have spoken to Venkatesh, and he has a pair of these cleats, but he is finding it difficult to send it across to me. The other option is to buy online. I have found a few sites that stock these cleats and ship to India. That is the other option. I can give you the names of the sites once I get home and check my home computer.
