You don't need to respace the frame for that, the steel has enough stretch to it that you can easily slide a 130 wheel into the 126 frame. I did that for a year or so, then switched to a 120 spaced fixed gear hub, and the alignment is still perfect.
If you don't get it spaced and the frame ends re-aligned, there will be a torque on the axle ends tending to bend the axle. That might translate to undesirable pressure on the wheel bearings. I can't say anything will wear out quicker, but it could.
