Bikes: 2015 Airborne Seeker

Also, I have yet to see one response by someone who's used a handgun, on their bike, during an otherwise unavoidable commute, where it was effective and ruled a legal shooting. When I see a few maybe I'll re-consider. Until then one's need to be armed while cycling remains a fantastic myth perpetuated by those who are emotionally attached to their guns.
I understand your logic, but let me put it in a different perspective. I am a cop who carries both on and off duty. I have carried concealed with a permit long before I got into law enforcement. Off duty I carry as a civilian. That means I don't plan to arrest anyone or shoot anyone unless they are trying to harm me or my family. My job is to only be a good witness. I have heard of too many cops die because they got involved in off duty robberies, etc. I carry my gun off duty not because I go to bad neighborhoods or look for trouble, I carry it because I want to defend myself should I be in a situation similar to the Libby's cafeteria shooting or the Utah mall shooting or if I'm at a Circle K getting a snack while out on a bicycle ride and get caught up in a robbery where the robbers don't want any witnesses and plan to kill all customers. Or going to a restaurant and a disgruntled employee decides to shoot up the place. I want to have that option to defend myself long enough to get the hell out of that situation. Are these situations rare, YES. Do I enjoy carrying a gun all the time, NO. I wish it was a perfect world where guns weren't necessary, but it's not. I deal with dirtbags everyday who have no value for human life and would shoot you square in the eyes just for looking at them too long. I also agree that gun owners should have proper training, especially those with children. Here in AZ, it's an open carry state and I see so many people that should not be carrying a handgun out in public. Most of them think that all situations can be difused with a gun, but fail to carry pepper spray or take self defense classes. I respect your right to not own or carry a firearm and I can only hope that you'd repect mine to carry one.
