Wearing equipment to participate in a particular sport while participating in said sport is not the same as sporting a manufacturer's logo gear at other times.

If the OP had gotten out of his car whilst wearing his Shimano cap, Trek shirt and Oakley hoodie, THEN the situation would have been closer to being ironic. Or if he'd made fun of his motorbike gear, but this is apples and oranges.
