- The thread subject is carrying while riding your bike, not your 2nd amendment rights. Please separate the two debates.

- Those that think that carrying while riding is an incredibly dumb idea are not attempting to infringe upon your precious right to own a firearm. Please separate the two debates.

- The louder you bluster about off-ing some a-hole who messes with you, the more apparent it is you have no knowledge of firearms, nor a realistic picture of the mindset required to take a life. (noted exceptions to the current and former law enforcement posters).

- If my law enforcement friends are telling me the truth, it doesn’t matter how strong you are or how big your dilly is; if unprepared and untrained, having a gun in an altercation will likely be used against you. If you’re lucky you’ll just end up with soiled underpants.

- Having a gun in your home and/or carrying to protect you and your family is ‘entirely’ different from carrying while riding your bike – If your environment is moving at 15 mph. you have even less time to assess the situation and determine if discharging a firearm is necessary or legal.

I propose we have a large “Bicycle Paintball” game. After 5 or 6 hours of riding around, exhausted with nobody getting hit, we can move on to more pertinent issues…
like what kind of bike would Rambo ride and what would be his weapon of choice if glued to the pavement and had 10 seconds before the truck was going to hit him…….
Depends...What kind of glue was that?.
Couple of things----you're dealing with cops in Minnesota, a notoriously liberal state, and likely Minneapolis, the San Francisco of the Midwest. Go ask a cop in a red state their opinion of civilians carrying firearms and you'll get a different answer. And I'm telling you this as the son of a Louisiana State Trooper.

There are always the people when carrying a weapon is discussed who put forth the idea that someone's going to use the weapon(pepper spray, firearm, etc) WHILE MOVING. Of course NOT! The weapon is to be used when someone approaches on foot and there is no avenue for escape. Don't know why you folks don't get that.

I've been shooting since I was 5. I've shot IPSC. I'm a veteran. I train with my firearm. I practice drawing from concealment. I practice drawing from my bicycle fanny pack. I've even taken my bike to the range and practiced drawing while straddling the bike. To top that, I've even done so after getting my heart rate up. I know what I'm doing. I know it's difficult for paternalistic liberals to imagine someone besides the all mighty cops(who have a notorious habit of emptying their weapons at suspects) might be proficient in the use of a firearm, but some of us are.
