I realize it doesn't answer your question, but I too would get past the need for 24 spokes and put on some Open Pro/Ultegra 32 spoke wheels, at least on the rear. Unless you want to go 100K miles on a set and maintain every 5K.
The braking surfaces on the rims will wear out long before 100,000 miles. I would start measuring thickness every thousand or so miles after about 10,000 miles.
