Unless you're some genetic monster, expect to get your ass handed to you when you first race.

I'm doing pre-season training for the first time ever, the training rides are kicking my ass, they're brutal, way harder and longer than the races I did last year.
e.g. Yesterday we did a fast pace 50 mile ride, I spent most of the ride trying not to throw up, hanging onto the cat 3 guy's wheel in front of me (I race 4/5)
Next weekend is the first race of the season, 27 miles.

Racing is hard, training should be harder.

I'm learning the hard way that the only thing between sucking and not sucking is a whole bunch of HTFU.
