Its a wonderful paradox:
If you ride a road bike you're a wannabe Lance Armstrong.
If you ride a fixed gear bike you're a wannabe hipster/messy.
I don't think most of the people in my town really know what a fixed gear is so people see me on a "road bike" and yell lance.
I apparently one time threatened to stab someone for calling me lance while i was riding. It really scares me knowing that I was riding a bike while too drunk to form memories.
