As shown, the left barcon is shifted to the middle ring. If you look closely at the front chainring you can just see bit of the big ring under the chain.

With barcons you can somewhat set the front shifter wherever you want to "start" with the little ring, since it is friction only. My cable run on the flats of the bar and depart when the bars start their upward curve. I have plenty of room for my handlebar bag.
