I think that NOBODY voluntarily bike commutes over 25 miles round trip everyday for the sole purpose of saving money. Especially if/when the weather and street conditions are not superb.
Saving money is good; spending more than a moment thinking about the associated pennies saved, due to cost of food eaten, and/or calories expended is not.
I doubt if any sports fishermen/hunters try to justify the joy of their activity by how much money they saved at the grocery store.
