Long story short: You turn it on, you know
exactly where you are.

I carry a map, (usually a printout from Google), to navigate and see where I *want* *to* *go*.
But the GPS tells me instantly, where I *am*.
And that is *very* useful when I am on roads I have never traveled before, and I have missed a turn.
