Looked pretty scary today. Ooofaaa that dude can rip it up when he's on form. But that finish today underscores the relative bike racing lameness of all these tough climbs that don't culminate in hilltop finishes. You can crush everybody on the climb and either lose the advantage on the descent or have the gap you establish greatly diminished. I know the organizers want to finish in these towns to maximize economic benefit and crowds, but they may have to go back to the drawing board on that in the ToC. That's why that stage race is decided by less than a minute every year. Throw in even one tough mountain top finish and things would get considerably more interesting in my view.

Outstanding racing so far. How great is it that they closed the friggin Golden Gate Bridge for the race? Kudos to California's local and state governments and all the local fans for embracing this event. America's cycling fans do appreciate it. I think it's fantastic to showcase California as a tourist destination too, hoping it works out for all those putting up all this dough. Hope the event grows and flourishes in the future.
