Well, i feel like i got the Walburg experience. Rain at the start, 10 minutes in the rain stops and the wind starts. I managed to hide from the wind for the first 11 miles, but when we turned onto the tailwind section there was a hard surge and i could not hang on. By the next turn, the wind had really pickup up. Brutal crosswind for the last 9 miles. Found someone to work with for the last 8, but still hard work.
Ended up with NP about 5% over FTP over the 1:20 race. Time to bump my zones a bit?
Can tell we were in the same race...it feels like I could have written that, except for the part about finding someone to work with. I don't think anyone else wanted to go that slow.
