Trek 950, A Good Buy I Think
I stopped by the local Goodwill store yesterday and noticed a Trek 950 steel MTB there. No tape measure with me but it looked promising.
Went back today and found it was still there and is a 20". Looked dirty and used but not abused. not even all the anodizing is worn off of the rim braking areas. I grabbed it for $59.99. The Local Goodwill store marks things down weekly apparently until they sell. This bike had started at $129.99 a few weeks ago, still a good buy from what I have read. I am surprised it had not sold before I got it.
The frame sticker says main tubes are double butted True Temper chrome moly. The frame is lugged steel construction marked "Made in USA". The group on it is 7 speed Deore LX. Frame color is a medium dark blue. Per the vintage Trek web site it is a 1990.
This is a potential candidate for the NuVinci 26" wheel the owner of my LBS in Reno has offered me at his cost. He has apparently had it in stock for some time and it has not sold.
