Bikes: Gary Fischer Wahoo, upgraded Specialized Allez

how did you end up with this bike without knowing how to shift it?
I managed it -- bought used from a cool guy in Houston. That was the last thing I asked him. "Now, before I go . . . how do you shift this thing?"
