Re touchup paint...I have had good luck with Testors enamel hobby paint for my 950. Found a good color match and the stuff holds up well.

Re appreciation for older steel MTBs...the latest edition of the Rivendell Reader (available online at www.rivbike.com) includes a short piece extolling the virtues of '80s steel MTBs as workhorse/beater bikes.
